Drone User Information

DRONE USERS:

Mono County supports the safe operation of drones for recreational use and commercial purposes. Coordination is a must. There are many areas around the County that are not safe to fly drones due to wildlife concerns and manned aircraft at low altitudes.

Please use the website link below to determine where you can fly in Mono County. A value of “0” means you cannot fly in that particular area without FAA authorization. The values on the map indicate maximum elevation above ground level. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Public Works at (760) 932-5440

Additionally, drones are PROHIBITED from flying over Bodie and Mono Lake State Parks pursuant to California State Parks Order Number 683-16-018 which states, “Unmanned aircraft, also known as ‘drones,’ ‘quad-copters’ and similar are hereby restricted from non-permitted operation over the state lands and water under the operational control of California State Parks.”
