Patient Access and Provider Directory API
Interoperability in healthcare involves the timely and secure access, integration, and utilization of electronic health data to enhance health outcomes for individuals and populations. Mono County Behavioral Health uses a Health Information Exchange (HIE), called CalMHSA Connex to enable the transfer of health information across different systems.
Traditionally, healthcare providers have exchanged data. For example, when a person is referred to a specialist by their primary care provider, the specialist requests a treatment history to determine the best course of care. Previously, this information was shared via fax or traditional mail. An HIE facilitates the sharing of health information among participating doctors’ offices, hospitals, labs, radiology centers, behavioral health professionals, and other healthcare providers through secure and efficient electronic means. This ensures that each participating provider benefits from the most up-to-date information available from other providers.
As a Mono County Behavioral Health client, you have to right to opt out of having your data shared with other providers. To Opt Out, please complete the forms labeled "Opt Out" on this page, or contact us at 760-924-1740.

Under the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule and the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule, Medicaid FFS programs, CHIP FFS programs, Medicaid managed care plans, and CHIP managed care entities are required to make provider directory information available via the Provider Directory API.
