Shop With A Cop

Each year, “Shop with a Cop” provides a joyful holiday for underprivileged children who, without this event, may not experience one. The participating children are identified by schools, law enforcement officers, and social services agencies.  The purpose of this event is to provide a happier holiday season to these children and to have the children interact with law enforcement officers in a positive setting.  On December 13, 2014, we had the opportunity to partner up with Inyo County Probation Department and participate in this event.

On the day of the event, uniformed officers from various local, state and federal agencies volunteer their time to be with the children at Whiskey Creek in Bishop for breakfast. After breakfast, the children participate in a law enforcement procession with lights and sirens and head to K-Mart for a morning of shopping with their law enforcement partner. Each child is provided with a K-Mart gift card to spend on themselves and their family.

Funding for this event is provided by community sponsors and donations.  If you wish to support this cause, please provide your donations to Mammoth Lakes Police Department who coordinate this event every year or visit the following link for further assistance.
