Race Communications Fiber Installation Use Permitting Process
To facilitate delivery of last mile internet service off the Digital 395 backbone, Race Communications proposes to install strand and fiber on existing utility poles, install fiber in existing underground conduit and newly proposed underground conduit, along with associated infrastructure (power vaults and distribution panels) in various Mono County communities.
Per Chapter 11 (Utilities) of the Mono County General Plan placement of this strand and fiber requires a Use Permit from Mono County for communications infrastructure proposed for placement within Mono County rights of way (i.e. along County roads) and proposed connections to structures (homes, businesses, and/or facilities) on private lands.
Maps and information submitted to the County pursuant to Race Communication's Use Permit applications are posted below by community.
The maps of proposed infrastructure installations posted below are in Adobe PDF format and best viewed with an Adobe PDF viewer or printed at 11" x 17" or larger. Some browsers may not display all features of these PDF maps; viewing in a PDF viewer is recommended.
The proposed Use Permits for installation in Crowley and Lee Vining were approved by the Mono County Planning Commission April 20, 2017.
Use Permits for Mono City, South of Chalfant (White Mtn Estates), Sunny Slopes, Tom's Place, Aspen Springs, Bridgeport, Walker, Benton, Swall Meadows and Paradise are scheduled to be heard by the Mono County Planning Commission June 15, 2017.
