Mono County to Conduct Emergency Alert Test for Southern Communities

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (August 14, 2025) – Mono County's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will conduct an emergency alert test to ensure the system works as intended during wildfires, floods, and other emergencies. This test is a vital component of Mono County's ongoing commitment to enhance and refine its emergency notification capabilities. 

WHAT: A test of the Mono County emergency alert system, READY Mono.

WHEN: Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: The communities of Mono City, Lee Vining, and June Lake.

Residents within the designated test area will receive a clearly labeled test message through the public alerting system via landline phones, email, and text messages. No action is required from residents upon receiving this test message. The message will be issued in both English and Spanish. 

If residents in the area did not receive a test message, they are strongly encouraged to sign up for local emergency alerts through the READY Mono system by visiting ready.mono.ca.gov. READY Mono offers detailed, localized updates directly from County officials, providing essential information tailored to specific community needs during an emergency.
