Mono County Board of Supervisors Adopts Resolution Approving Contract with Public Health Officer
MONO COUNTY, Calif. (DECEMBER 22, 2021) – On Tuesday, the Mono County Board of Supervisors adopted a Resolution approving an employment contract with Dr. Caryn Slack, Public Health Officer. Effective January 3, 2022, Dr. Slack will serve as Mono County Department of Public Health’s medical expert regarding public health matters.
Dr. Slack is a practicing Board Certified Family Medicine provider (for over 18 years). She has experience practicing in both urban and rural primary care. Working in partnership with state and local colleagues, as well as health professional organizations, Dr. Slack will consult, interpret, and enforce county and state laws and regulations to protect and promote the health and wellness of all residents in Mono County.
“I am honored to be given this opportunity to protect and promote the health of all people living in Mono County,” said Dr. Slack. “It is certainly a challenge being a local health officer in these times. However, I have trained for this moment. I look forward to using my skills to promote community health and wellbeing and reduce the threats to that success. I am ready to tackle the issues affecting Mono County every day, including COVID-19, substance abuse, mental health, poverty, and environmental exposures.”
Born and raised in New England, Dr. Slack completed her undergraduate at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Dr., and received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She also received a Masters in Public Health from The University of Utah, Division of Public Health.
