Mono County Board of Supervisors Adopts Resolution Appointing Marcella A. Rose Outdoor Recreation Manager

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (September 21, 2022) – Yesterday, the Mono County Board of Supervisors appointed Marcella A. Rose to the position of Mono County Outdoor Recreation Manager.  The Outdoor Recreation Manager organizes public lands recreation engagement efforts between Mono County and federal Land Management Agencies, including Inyo National Forest, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and Bureau of Land Management, and other state and local government and non-governmental agencies.  The role focuses on sustainability of our local resources, quality of visitor experience, and quality of life for local residents.  Ms. Rose most recently served as Staff Services Analyst for Mono County Behavioral Health.

The goal of the Outdoor Recreation Manager position is to facilitate, expedite, and enable efficient and productive inter-agency relationships on short, medium, and long-term planning and implementation of projects, programs, and activities related to public lands recreation and resource protection.  Mono County created this position in 2020.

“Ms. Rose’s education in geography and her experience and volunteer efforts with government agencies will be an exceptional benefit for the team,” said Bob Gardner, Chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors.  “She has an intimate familiarity with the area, and is passionate about the Eastern Sierra landscape and educational outreach within the community.”

Ms. Rose holds a Bachelors Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from California State University, Northridge (CSU Northridge), with a focus on mapping and physical geography, and a Masters Degree in Geography with a focus on field and research methods.  During her time at CSU Northridge, Ms. Rose spent time working with local Eastern Sierra research centers, working on projects such as McGee Creek channel geometry mapping, Bristlecone tree line surveys, and Mammoth Creek water quality surveys.  In her spare time, Ms. Rose enjoys hiking with her husband Sean and dog Trixie, kayaking, and backpacking.
