Public Comment in Board Meetings

Board of Supervisors meetings are business meetings of the Board held in public to conduct the County’s business. The Board of Supervisors welcomes and encourages public engagement and participation at Board meetings.

• Board members want to ensure that multiple voices of the community are heard and that the process for community input is clearly defined and that community members feel welcomed and are encouraged to participate.
• Members of the public have the right to address the Board on any item within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board. Time for public input will be provided at every Board of Supervisors meeting.
• Members of the public shall direct their comments to the Chair. Time limitations are at the discretion of the Chair and may be reduced or extended.
• Individual Board members may ask clarifying questions but will not engage in substantive dialogue with persons providing input to the Board.
• Public comments on items on the agenda will be called prior to the board taking action on the item.

Regular Meetings are held the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are currently held in a hybrid format (in person and accessible by teleconference). Members of the public may participate in person at the below listed locations, or, if available, via the Zoom Webinar, including listening to the meeting and providing public comment. 

Making Public Comment Remotely

If you join the meeting remotely and wish to make public comment, please listen for the Chair to introduce the allotted period for public comment.  

To raise your hand and unmute by video conference: When public comment is invited, press the "Raise Hand" button at the bottom of your screen to request to speak. When called upon, press the "Unmute" button to unmute your microphone.

To raise your hand and unmute by phone: When public comment is invited, press *9 to “Raise Hand” to request to speak. When called upon, press *6 to unmute.

After the allotted time, staff will mute your microphone.
