2022 Grants and Cooperative Agreements Information:

Mono County will be submitting a preliminary application for grant funds to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division (OHMVR). Grant funds will be used to assist the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service in preserving legal OHV riding opportunities and restoring areas to protect natural and cultural resources and prevent trespass. At this time - deliverables to this project include:

  • Active Restoration of areas impacted by OHV Trespass
  • Signing unauthorized OHV routes (including County maintained roads)
  • Production of Mono County/ inter-agency OHV mapping products 

Public Comment Period:

Mono County and CA State Parks OHMVR Division invite public comments on the preliminary grant application. These and all other applicants’ grant requests, as well as detailed instructions about the process and how to comment, can be viewed on the OHMVR website https://ohv.parks.ca.gov/. Comments should be submitted directly through the division website from March 8 to May 2, 2022.

The Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service manage thousands of miles of Off-Highway-Vehicle (OHV) roads and trails in Mono County. OHV Riding Opportunities, including maps, visitor centers, safety and contact information may be found by visiting each land management agency's website listed below. Do your part by riding on only designated roads and trails in Mono County.

Registration/Fees:

OHVs are motor vehicles that are used only off public roads and highways, on lands that are open and accessible to the public. OHVs such as all-terrain vehicles, trail bikes, racing motorcycles, dune buggies, and snowmobiles do not require regular vehicle registration, but they must display an ID plate or placard issued by DMV.
