Wildfire Resilience Workshops

Mono County RPAC Members:

June 11th - 17th is the Eastern Sierra’s first Wildfire Resilience Week!!!  To celebrate, we have lots of local, fun, free events planned that will help you protect your home and property from wildfire.

  • Want to know how to increase the odds – by a lot – that your house is still standing after a wildfire and do it affordably?
  • Want to tour some local residences and learn what works and doesn’t work?
  • Want to know more about how to get insured and stay insured?

If so, then join your friends and neighbors next week as Mono County, the Whitebark Institute, and Inyo County host a series of fun, informative talks and home tours by nationally-known professional forester and home wildfire defense expert, Yana Valachovich.  Yana will be offering seminars and tours in various communities in Mono County, where she will offer new, cutting-edge, science-based, affordable strategies that will help you and your neighbors create Fire-Adapted Communities.  Everywhere Yana goes, people ask her to come back so we are very happy to have her here with us!

The complete schedule of event can be accessed here.  All events are free, and open to the entire Eastern Sierra community.  If we missed your community and you cannot attend an event at another location or remotely, we are planning on another week with Yana later this year in more communities.

For more questions, contact Wendilyn Grasseschi, Mono County Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator at 970-509-0126 or wgrasseschi@mono.ca.gov.
