Special Event Permit Application: theMAMMOTH
Good afternoon,
Mono County is presently processing a Special Event Permit application for theMAMMOTH, a 200-mile running race around the Long Valley Caldera. The race, as proposed, will continue through evening hours and, on the evenings of Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28, the event organizer has proposed overnight use of the Lee Vining Community Center as an aid station where race participants can resupply and recover, with cots available for participants to catch some sleep.
This special event permit will be considered by the Mono County Board of Supervisors at the September 9, 2025 meeting. The meeting will occur at 9 am in Bridgeport, with remote participation available in Mammoth Lakes or online.
