Widespread Power Outage - Oct. 5

Southern California Edison is anticipating that power will be restored this afternoon, perhaps by 3pm.

  • Early this morning (at approximately 3:30 am), a source line into the Mammoth-Bishop area experienced an unplanned outage, not a proactive public safety power shutoff. This outage effects approximately 15,000 customers in the area.
  • SCE crews are working to restore power to the source line. In order to safely restore power across the area, in alignment with protocol for outages in fire risk areas, we are also manually inspecting every circuit that is affected, using our crews on the ground, supported by helicopter patrols.
  • Once the outage has been repaired, power will be restored on a circuit-by-circuit basis as soon as each circuit has been inspected.
