Portable Backup Generator Warning
During our current winter season, Mono County Public Health reminds residents to never use a backup generator inside of a home, garage, or other structure - even if the doors and windows are open. Portable backup generators produce poisonous carbon monoxide gas, which is coloroless and odorless. It is important that residents and visitors take caution when using these tools during the winter season.
FACT: Portable backup generators produce the poisonous gas carbon monoxide.
- Never use a generator inside your home or garage, even if doors and windows are open.
- Only use generators outside, more than 20ft away from your home, doors & windows.
