Mono Minutes: Board of Supervisors Action Report (10/24/25)

October 21, 2025 Meeting Highlights

  • The Board held a workshop on countywide Short-Term Rental (STR) rule revisions and provided direction on controversial policy issues, with a final vote scheduled for November 18.
  • The Board reviewed the STR Policy Package for Interlaken Condominiums, voting 4–1 to initiate changing the land use designation of the parcel to align it with similar complexes and, while that is being processed, temporarily allow new STRs to be approved.
  • The Board authorized staff to apply for the State Public Defender’s Expanded Public Defense Grant. If awarded, the funds would support expanded public defense services at no cost to the County General Fund.
  • The Board dedicated an adjourned evening session to a series of crucial staff presentations and updates. These briefings provided foundational data and allowed the Board to hear directly from residents on critical issues. The following departments presented:
    • Chalfant Valley Fire District & Community Service District
    • White Mountain Fire Protection District
    • Emergency Management Information 
    • Public Works
    • Behavioral Health Services 
    • Health and Human Services
    • County Administrative Office Update on Housing and Budget

Mono County Launches Community Support Grant Programs; Funding Available for Non-Profits, Arts, and History
Mono County's Economic Development, Tourism, and Film Commission opened applications for three new Community Support Grant Programs aimed at established non-profits: the Community Event Marketing Fund (CEMF), the Historical Societies Grant Program (HSGP), and the Performing & Visual Arts Grant Program (PVAGCEMF). These reimbursement funds (FY 2025–2026) support economic and cultural vitality. The mandatory application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025. (HSGP and PVAG projects may run through December 31, 2026). You can find more information here
