February 17, 2026 Board Meeting Highlights

Correspondence Sent: The Board executed a letter of support to U.S. Representative Kiley for the Housing Financial Committee's Housing for the 21st Century Act. 

Correspondence Received: The Board received a letter from a Mono County resident requesting County opposition to mileage-based vehicle fees Impacting Mono County residents. 

County Medical Services Program Update: The Board received an  update on County Medical Services Program (CMSP) operations and challenges. A leading issue is the financial strain caused by the federal One Big Beautiful Bill (HR 1); as residents lose Medi-Cal and transition to CMSP, the program faces critical funding shortfalls in meeting the increased demand unless new funding is identified..

Federal and State Changes to Medi-Cal and CalFresh Programs: County staff presented to the Board information on how changes prompted by the federal One Big Beautiful Bill (HR 1)  may impact Mono County recipients of Medi-Cal and CalFresh programs, and steps they are taking to prepare for and mitigate the impact of these changes, where possible.

It’s Game on for the Bridgeport Community: After bidding a farewell to the park's 30-year-old facilities, we are thrilled to unveil a completely upgraded sports space at Bridgeport Park. Visitors can now enjoy fresh basketball and tennis courts, alongside the exciting addition of two brand-new pickleball courts just waiting for players to grab their paddles. To make the park more welcoming and accessible for everyone, the space now features a new entry gate and ADA-compliant walking paths that connect the parking lot, visitor center, and the courts. 

This incredible transformation was made possible largely through a grant from California’s Prop 68, but the improvements don't stop here. Keep an eye out this spring as we prepare to introduce a new restroom facility and even more parking improvements!
