July 6, 2022 Eastern Sierra Substance Use meeting recording and documents

Thank you all who were able to attend todays Eastern Sierra Substance Use Project meeting. If you were unable to attend the meeting, you can find the recording and agenda posted to our website; https://monohealth.com/public-health/page/essup.

Some items to highlight from our meeting:

  • Recovery Language Do's and Don'ts document (see attachment)
    • To discuss further with MAT providers, changing language from Medication Assisted Treatment to Medication Assisted Recovery. 
  • Behavioral Health is doing Narcan/Alcohol harm reduction events throughout the county. 
    • July 22nd- Walker wellness center (flyer still to come)
    • August 31st- Mammoth Lakes, Volcom Skate Park, event is also focused on Overdose Awareness Day
  • Items that the group would like focus on for future discussions or projects:
    • How to support individuals that use Meth
    • Collaborating with businesses to educate them about alcohol recovery options locally and alcohol harm reduction, so that they can share information with their costumers and know of to talk to them about alcohol use. Booth with behavioral health outside popular bars to provide alcohol use harm reduction and recovery resources (discussed at previous meetings but unsure of status of this project).
    • Develop a subgroup to discuss community response and resources to individuals that are pregnant and use substances (please email Jacinda-jcroissant@mono.ca.gov if you would like to be apart of this subgroup)
