ESSUP 4/5 meeting recording and transition
Hey everyone,
My apologies for the delay in getting this recording out to you all. I really appreciate you all coming to the meeting on April 5th to discuss additional data that Mono County can look at to understand the needs and know how to support folks that use substances. We hope to make this an ongoing conversation. Here is the recording link and password:

The feedback that was provided by the group was to investigate Toiyabe data, intrauterine drug exposure from those that deliver at NIH, Social Services cases related to pregnant persons, and substance use referrals from women’s health for their perinatal patients.
Emily Janoff, epidemiologist for Mono County, is leading the data collection and survey development. Emily is currently working on adding more behavioral health data, then reaching out to Toiyable and NIH next for their substance use data.
While there is some overlap, this data review and discussion was specific to Mono County. It would be wonderful if Inyo county is able to share some of their data around people that use drugs. Inyo county has such a robust harm reduction program and systems in place to support people that use drugs, would love to learn more about how Inyo addresses the needs of their community based on their local data. So, lets keep this conversation going and learn from each other because in the end we all want to support individuals that use drugs to reduce the harms and stigma in the Eastern Sierra.
On a separate note, I am stepping away from a lot of my roles at Mono County Health Department to dedicate more time to my Masters of Public Health Program. While I will still remain involved with the Eastern Sierra Substance Use Project, we have asked Mono County Behavioral Health to take the lead on this collaborative, and they said yes! Given behavioral health has the harm reduction program, it just makes sense for behavioral health to take on the ESSUP and we very grateful for all their work to support people that use drugs in Mono County.
Going forward, we will still have this newsletter to share information on upcoming meetings and events. Please make sure your colleagues are signed up for this newsletter. I will still be available during this transition, so don’t hesitate to email me at //jcroissant@mono.ca.gov">jcroissant@mono.ca.gov. But moving forward, Lauren Plum at behavioral health will be leading this collaborative and can be reached at lplum@mono.ca.gov.
Thank you all for your work to support people that use drugs in the Eastern Sierra! I will see you at the next meeting which will be determined by Mono County Behavioral Health.
