CPUC Seeks Public Input on Television and Internet Services

Now is your chance to provide meaningful input to improve regulation of the internet and television services you use!

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is creating new rules to protect customers who use television and internet services.  The CPUC is undertaking this work because many Californians rely on businesses such as Altice/Suddenlink, DirecTV, Charter, Comcast, and Cox for their television and internet services.  The CPUC issues franchises to more than 20 businesses that offer these services in California, and wants to promote competition, give consumers more choice, lower prices, improve customer service, speed up the deployment of new communication and broadband technologies, and create jobs to benefit the California economy.

THE CPUC NEEDS TO HEAR FROM CONSUMERS SO THEY KNOW WHERE CHANGE IS NEEDED

The CPUC has opened a rulemaking called, "Order Instituting Rulemaking Proceeding to Consider Changes to Requirements on Video Franchisees Under the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act" (Rulemaking 23-04-006), to consider potential new policies and rules.  The CPUC is requesting public input to help them develop these policies and rules.  Click here to watch a short video on the issues and how to comment.

You can also share input more formally in the following ways:

1. Attend a public participation hearing (information coming soon)

2. Become a party to the rulemaking: Rulemaking 23-04-006 (via website below)

The information you provide will be valuable data for decision-makers and legislators in creating future policies and rules that businesses with video franchises must follow.
