  • Snow Removal & County Road Maintenance

    Currently the Department of Public Works Road Operations are responsible for 684.42 miles of county roadway, not including private roads or drives. The County's land area has been divided into five "road areas " which employ 3 or more employees each.  These employees maintain county roads by doing minor repairs and snow removal during the winter months.

  • Engineering

    Mostly responsible for developing plans & specifications for capital improvement projects, the Engineering Division of the Mono County Department of Public Works also performs the statutory duties of Airport Engineer, County Surveyor, and Floodplain Administrator for Mono County. In addition, the Engineering Division assists the Community Development Department with the review of land development projects.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR REQUESTING AUTHORIZATION TO PERFORM WORK WITHIN A COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY OR COUNTY ROAD (including mailbox installations)

    For Encroachment Permit Application and examples, see supporting documents below. When complete, you may mail or drop-off the form and deposit at the either of the Permit Counters located at the Mammoth or Bridgeport Administrative Offices of the county. Incomplete forms and submittals may result in a delay in processing. Please make your check(s) payable to "Mono County".
