2017 Shop with a Cop

2017 Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop

On December 9, 2017, Mono County Deputy Probation Officers Dylan Whitmore and Curtis Hill participated in the Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop in Bishop, CA.   This year's event was able to take 61 kids from Mono and Inyo Counties.

Each year, "Shop with a Cop" provides a joyful holiday for underprivileged children who, without this event may not experience one.  The participating children are identified by schools, law enforcement officers and social service agencies.   The agencies that participated this year included Mono County Probation, Mono County Sheriff's Office, Inyo County Sheriff's Office, Bishop Police Department, Mammoth Lakes Police Department, CHP, Bishop U.S. Forest Service, Inyo County Probation, and Inyo National Forest Bureau of Land Management.

On the day of the event, uniformed officers accompany the children to breakfast, followed by a law enforcement procession with lights and sirens, and then head to Kmart for a morning of shopping, where they can also have the presents they purchase wrapped.
