Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is collected by Mono County from all transients who stay within Mono Counties Unincorporated lodging facilities, R.V. parks, and campgrounds.  The current rate of tax is 12%.

On November 5, 2024, voters approved Measure K to increase the TOT from 12% to 15%. This adjustment is designed to support affordable housing, local infrastructure, and community services in unincorporated Mono County. The new rate of 15% is expected to become effective on December 13, 2024. Previously we reported that the updated 15% TOT rate would apply to all transient rentals, including any reservations with a check-in date on or after December 13, 2024, but this date has been extended to December 20, 2024.

All Mono County operators can expect to receive additional information in the next distribution of tax filing returns, which is for the quarter ending December 31, 2024..
