Current phone scams and fraudulent phone calls

Several residents around Mono and Inyo Counties have recently been receiving fraudulent phone calls. These calls are stating that your credit card has been compromised and instructs you to press "1" for further instructions. Once you press "1," you are asked to enter your full credit card number for verification purposes. These are fraudulent calls scamming to get your credit card information. If you receive one of these calls, hang up. Please do not enter your credit card information over the phone. If you are ever in doubt by one of these fraudulent calls, please contact your credit card company directly (via the phone number found on your credit card) and ask them directly about any information they may be seeking from you. Never give your information up over the phone.
