May 12, 2026 Board Meeting Highlights
- National Police Week: The Board of Supervisors adopted a proclamation recognizing the week of May 10 - 16, 2026, as National Police Week.
- Sheriff's Office Presentation of Life-Saving Medals: Sheriff Braun honored Investigator Flores with the distinguished Lifesaving Award for his swift decision-making and willingness to risk his own safety during the 2025 Pack Fire. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate remarkable bravery and quick thinking during life-threatening circumstances. Ultimately, the medal serves as a testament to the true courage and compassion of those who selflessly risk themselves to save the lives of others. Deputy Pelichowski is also set to receive the Life-Saving Medal; however, he was unavailable at the time. He will be awarded in the near future.
- American Red Cross of Mono County Health and Human Service Good Neighbor Award: The American Red Cross, Kern County and Eastern Sierra Chapter, awarded the Mono County Health and Human Services as the 2026 American Red Cross Good Neighbor recipient recognizing its outstanding partnership and commitment to community support during times of need.
- Mono County Letter of Support for June Lake Arts Funding: The Board of Supervisors approved a letter of support for the grant application submitted by June Lake Loop Performing Arts Association, also known as June Lake Arts, for General Operating Support funding.
- Eastern Sierra Wildfire Alliance Memorandum of Understanding & Update on Whitebark Institute Activities: The Board of Supervisors authorized Jennifer Kreitz, Chair (District 1) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes non-binding regional collaboration to improve wildfire resilience across Alpine, Inyo, and Mono Counties, outlining shared goals, coordination structure, and participation through 2031. The Board also received an update on Whitebark Institute's efforts to advance community and wildfire resilience in Mono County.
