MONO COUNTY, Calif. (DECEMBER 10, 2025) – On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a formal State of Emergency for Mono County to support ongoing recovery efforts in communities impacted by the Pack Fire. The wildfire, which ignited on November 13 near Lake Crowley in the eastern Sierra Nevada and was fully contained on December 3, destroyed 30 residential and commercial structures and damaged six others. 

The proclamation authorizes expedited cleanup of debris and household hazardous waste, and unlocks state resources — including low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration — for homeowners, renters, and businesses affected by the fire. 

“This emergency declaration is a critical step forward in helping our community recover,” said Sandra Moberly, Mono County Administrative Officer. “We are grateful to the State for stepping in, and we remain committed to working hand-in-hand with impacted residents, businesses, and responders to restore safety and rebuild what was lost.”

Mono County officials are actively coordinating with state agencies to help affected residents apply for disaster relief, clear debris, and ensure a safe and efficient recovery process.
