Mono Minutes: Board of Supervisors Action Report (10/10/25)

October 7, 2025 Meeting Highlights:

  • The Board adopted a Proclamation designating the month of October 2025 as National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
    • PRACTICE THESE FOUR ESSENTIALS TO STAY SAFER ONLINE! 
      • Update Software: Always perform updates immediately or set automatic updates to protect against threats.
      • Use Strong Passwords: Make them LONG (at least 16 characters), RANDOM, and UNIQUE. Use a password manager to keep them safe!
      • Turn on MultiFactor Authentication (MFA): MFA provides an extra layer of security. A physical security key offers the best protection.
      • Recognize and Report Phishing: Always verify the sender before clicking links or downloading attachments. If you spot a scam in your emails or texts, report it!

  • The Board adopted a Proclamation designating the month of October 2025 as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
  • The Board sent correspondence to Governor Newsom requesting he veto Assembly Bill 339 (Ortega).
  • The Board authorized two new Animal Control truck purchases.

This month’s Monogram provides guidance for Mono County residents on managing indoor mouse populations and reducing the risk of hantavirus through Integrated Pest Management. You can find the full document and more information here [2].

Mono County Launches Community Support Grant Programs; Funding Available for Non-Profits, Arts, and History
The Mono County Economic Development, Tourism, and Film Commission has opened applications for three new Community Support Grant Programs designed to assist established non-profit organizations: the Community Event Marketing Fund (CEMF), the Historical Societies Grant Program (HSGP), and the Performing & Visual Arts Grant Program (PVAG). Funded through the FY 2025-2026 budget, these are all reimbursement programs intended to promote economic development and cultural vitality. Notably, the HSGP and PVAG offer extended timelines, allowing projects to be completed through December 31, 2026. The mandatory application deadline for all programs is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025. You can find more information here [3].
