Bridgeport, CA, June 4, 2025 – The Mono County Board of Supervisors is proud to announce that Supervisor John Peters, representing District 4, has been elected President of the Western Interstate Region (WIR) of the National Association of Counties (NACo). Supervisor Peters' election took place at the recent WIR annual conference.
WIR is a vital voice for county governments across the western United States, advocating for federal policies that impact rural and urban communities alike. As President, Supervisor Peters will play a pivotal role in shaping WIR's priorities, representing the interests of western counties before Congress and federal agencies, and fostering collaboration among member counties.
Supervisor Peters has been a dedicated member of the Mono County Board of Supervisors since 2017. His deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities, particularly in areas like public lands management, natural resource conservation, and economic development, makes him an ideal leader for WIR.
