Walker River Basin water transfer

As lead agency, the Mono County Community Development Department will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to analyze potential environmental impacts associated with a program that would regulate water transactions in Mono County related to the Walker Basin Restoration Program (WBRP). The County has determined that an EIR will be required because water transactions that could be implemented under the proposed amendments may cause potentially significant impacts on the environment.

The County issued a Notice of Preparation (NOP) and Initial Study for the project on April 23. It is seeking comments on the range of policies, alternatives, mitigation measures, potential significant environmental effects to be analyzed in the EIR, and input to eliminate issues that do not need to be substantially evaluated. Scoping meetings that offer opportunity for comment are scheduled for the following venues:

May 6, 1 pm – Mono County Resource Conservation District Meeting (Bridgeport, Public Works Conference Room);
May 7, 10 am – Mono County Board of Supervisors (Bridgeport, Mono County Courthouse); and
May 7, 6:30 pm – Antelope Valley RPAC Special Meeting (Walker Community Center).
